TO: Marineland Residents
FROM: HOA Board
DATE: August 28, 2007

  1. New HOA Board
The newly elected HOA Board got right to work on the committees needed to establish the new corporation - Marineland Community Association, Inc. The #1 priority is the Document Committee which held it's first meeting 8/20

  2. Document Committee Mtg 8/20
Thanks to the 13 residents who attended the Document Committee meeting. This is a great turnout! Your volunteerism is greatly appreciated. Notes of this meeting will be made public once they have been reviewed & approved by the attendees. There will be another meeting scheduled as soon as the reworked Bylaw/CCR documents are ready.

  3. Procedures Handbook
There are plans to translate Bylaws, CCRS, Rules and Regulations and other legal documents into "user friendly" procedures that will eventually become a handbook for the Board of Directors and all residents. The procedures handbook might include, for example: forms, sample meeting notices, the committee charters, etc. This would be a "living" document in that would be revised as needed.

  4. Park Newsletter
The next HOA Park Newsletter is in the works for late September or October. It will provide the park conversion status (esp MPROP), financial statements, committee info, schedule of events and other information that we are still researching. In the meantime, we will do our best to keep you informed via these e-mails.

  5. Hermosa Beach Municipal Elections
There will a HB Municipal Election on November 6th. Six candidates, including one incumbent, will run for two Hermosa Beach City Council seats. There are plans in the works to hold a "meet and greet" with the candidates at Marineland. Organizers are Pat Love (#26) & Corinne Ybarra (#25).

  6. BIG Event!!
The "Harvest Hoedown" event is not being planned this year for two reasons: 1) we are going to be very, very busy starting sometime in October, and 2) we want to save our Event budget towards having a really great "WE OWN IT" celebration sometime in January, after close of escrow. The conversion of Marineland to resident ownership is a historical event that deserves a great party! Any suggestions? Contact Denise Ossello, Event Committee Chair, space #18.

  7. small Events!
Smaller events ARE being planned. Events such as BUNCO parties, Pumpkin Carving, Holiday Lighting and Cookie Exchange. Again, contact Denise with your suggestions or to volunteer.

  8. Why so busy in October?/How much $$?
October is when we expect to hear back from the State of CA about our MPROP application. Once we know more about the MPROP funding then we (ie the Loftin Firm) will start contacting 3rd party lenders. The question that we've all asked - "What is this going to cost?" - will finally be answered. There will be a lot of meetings and a lot of documents to look over.

  9. Web Site - "under construction"
The www.ilovehb.com is being updated to archive old documents (Year 2004 and early) and to make it easier to store & find the new information, such as meeting Agendas and Minutes. We are also experimenting with Google Calendar for scheduling meetings and events. Certain pages of the web site may be "under construction" and information may be temporarily unavailable. Please check back later or contact: zapzap@earthlink.net .
